My Top Holiday Decorating Ideas

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, so many of you are either very close to decorating your homes for the holidays or you have already started. I get so many questions about the “rules” of decorating during this season, so let me give you my #1 rule. Have fun! This time is about enjoying your friends and family, so whatever makes you happy is exactly what you should do. But I do have some suggestions to keep things festive and in the aesthetic that you love.

1. Natural Minimalist

If you like to keep things simple but elegant, consider decorating mostly with natural materials. Greenery, plants, and simple flowers with a few lights interspersed will give you a holiday look without going too over the top.

2. Layered Maximalist

If you love the over-the-top joy of the holiday season, then celebrate that with lush layers of color and sparkle! Your tree should be packed to the max, and greenery should drip from every arch and mantel. To keep things cohesive, though, stick to your room’s color palette!

3. Color Traditionalist

If you believe it isn’t the holidays without a traditional color palette, then definitely stick to what you love! I like to pick two colors to play with, so that can be white and red, green and silver, or blue and gold if you celebrate Hannukah. Make the color a strong focal point, rather than a rainbow of clutter.

4. Social Butterfly

If you know you’ll have a lot of guests dropping in over the holidays, then include a hosting station in your festive decor. It should be fully stocked with spirits, liqueurs, garnishes, and nibbles. Be sure to bring the bling with fun swizzle sticks, sassy napkins, and some flowers.

Use these ideas to make your home a cozy and fun getaway for the holiday season!

Warmly,

Beth
