My Top Colors for 2026

Pantone really stirred up some controversy when it selected white as its Color of the Year for 2026. For me, it was the idea that white isn’t ALWAYS a part of home decor. Can you imagine a house without some white paint in it somewhere?! Exactly. So while I definitely love shades of white for interiors, it isn’t enough of a trend to be named Color of the Year. As interior designers, we are at the forefront of what our clients want, what colors are trending in fashion and other fields, and what we know we can select that will thrill our clients. It’s a expertise that we have crafted over decades. So here is my professional take on what will be the top color trends next year, broken out by mood!

1. The Naturalist

Green in all shades will be the spotlight color next year. Not only does it bring the outdoors inside, but it also soothes and offers a balanced feeling. If you saw any of the backlash to Pantone’s selection, you had to have seen the designers and colorists who said green is really on the scene.

2. The Peacemaker

Blue is NEVER out of style, but next year I see a quieter and cooler version moving to the spotlight. We all could use a little peace in our lives right now, and that’s exactly how blue makes us feel. It’s calming and creates a sense of trust.

3. The Sophisticate

The photo above is from a work-in-progress, but I love sharing a sneak peek of my work! That luscious chocolate brown is such a sophisticated color and it will definitely be seen throughout the home next year. Can you imagine that color in a bedroom, or a cozy den? It’s going to be a HOT selection in 2026.

4. The Optimist

Then there’s the wild card - bold, brash yellow! This color definitely makes me smile and it could be just the happy antidote we need for the chaotic times we live in. This sunny hue is perfect for most any room, but I especially like its surprising effect on small spaces.
