4 Ways to Create a Stress-Free Home
After a crazy few years for all of us, one of the top resolutions I keep seeing people set for 2026 is to destress their lives. I know I could definitely use more zen! Did you know that your home’s decor can help you lower your stress levels? I work with my clients to create an oasis for them, a place where they can get away and recharge. There are definite interior design steps you can take to create a stress-free home. Here are 4 of my favorites!

1. Out with the Old
Hanging on to things that no longer work for you can start to weigh you down. So I always encourage my clients to regularly look through their closets to get rid of old or worn-out pieces. A well-organized closet, with everything in its place, will clear your head and raise your mood!

2. Clear the Clutter
Visual clutter is a proven stress inducer! One of the best things you can do to bring calm into your home is clear the rooms of any clutter. That includes countertops, disorganized shelves, and other surfaces. I always design my client’s kitchens with plenty of storage so they can keep that visual clutter to a minimum. It really does make a difference!

3. Dopamine Decor
This is the idea of raising your levels of the “happiness hormone.” You can do that through color, especially if you select colors that you love, or that make you feel calm. Rather than following some new trend, I always tell my clients to go with colors that really will make them feel welcome and happy in their rooms. The blue in the bedroom above is exactly that type of tone - it’s quiet and serene, which is perfect for this space!

4. Keep It Cozy
Texture is so key to keeping things stress free. Think about a baby with a favorite blanket, or how you feel when you put on the softest pajamas. Adding those cozy touches is important for making your home an oasis. In the bedroom above, I brought in soft sheets, a plush faux fur throw, and even a textural rug to ensure that my clients would be enveloped in softness!
Use these ideas to help you keep your resolution to destress in 2026!
Warmly,
Beth
