A Passion for Fashion

It was great to see the fashion shows back in swing last week in New York. I get so much inspiration from what I see on the runways. And this year there was so much to be inspired by! Here are my favorite trends from the fashion shows.

Brandon Maxwell

Nostalgia

Quilted fabrics, chunky knits, ‘50s-inspired silhouettes - all were hugely popular among designers at the shows. Like Brandon Maxwell’s show, where there were pleats, wide skirts, and lovely knitted fabrics. Brandon said he was inspired by his family, and it really showed.

Carolina Herrera

Volume Rules

BIG volume was a major theme on the runways, including massive sleeves, huge skirts, and structured capes. I loved the crinoline skirts from Carolina Herrara, one of my favorite design labels.

Anna Sui

Brit Pop

Keying into that nostalgia, but with a more jazzy vibe, is the new wave of British pop, including pattern mixing, miniskirts, scarves, and more. I love the vibrant colors and patterns from Anna Sui’s collection.

Alice + Olivia

Structure & Sophistication

After two solid years of yoga pants and PJs, designers (and I suspect the rest of us) are ready to get back to dressing up and celebrating style. Designers like Alice + Olivia showcased bold color and incredible tailoring, as well as lots of embellishments.

We’re all ready to get out and celebrate again, and fashion is a huge part of that. What are your favorite looks from the recent shows? Let me know in the comments section below!

Warmly,
