The less visual clutter you have in any space in your home, the calmer you will feel. That’s actually a proven fact. If there was ever a time to organize and reduce clutter, this is it. It’s also very satisfying to get rid of things you no longer need, or to label containers in your pantry. So set aside a weekend to get your house into order.

2. Use Calming Palettes

Color can definitely impact your mood. In fact, medical studies have proven that your blood pressure can be lowered in a room that has a calming palette. Consider neutrals like grays and whites, or pale colors like sky blue or sage green. They’ll help you reduce stress and breathe more deeply.

3. Add Texture

There’s a reason that we carry around soft blankets and stuffed animals when we’re children. The texture and softness soothe us. That doesn’t change just because we’re older. Find the softest throws you can. Buy the fluffiest duvets and the rugs with the deepest piles. All of that soft texture will soothe you just as much now as it did when you were little.

4. Invest in Your Bedding

This is the time to make sure you have a bed that will help you get the sleep you really need right now. You need the best mattress you can afford, as well as the sheets you most prefer, and the pillows that will help you drift off to dreamland. Sleep is always important, but it’s critical right now.

5. Bring in Nature

Fresh flowers and plants are a great way to raise your mood and make you happy. They can also increase the oxygen in your home and help clear the air. If there’s a fragrance you prefer, this is also a great way to bring that into your home.
