Top 6 Kitchen Trends for 2026

Top shelter magazines like House Beautiful have been listing their top trends for kitchens this year. Since it’s the room that takes the most investment and time to renovate, it makes sense to find the look and design that works for you rather than following fashions. But there are trends that are classic and more timeless, that allow you to have the most up-to-date look while still loving your kitchen for years. Here are the top 6 design ideas that I think are the best - and smartest - for 2026.

1. Patterned Tile Floors

A tile floor is definitely functional for a kitchen. It’s easy to clean, holds up to heavy use, and comes in an incredible array of colors and patterns. Those patterns are definitely becoming more popular! I like to use a mix of neutrals in bold shapes - they will make a statement but will still allow you to change things up if you want to update the colors of your kitchen cabinets in the future.

2. Warm Wood Tones

Kitchens used to be entirely painted. But warm woods, especially with texture, are coming back into style. I love how wood finishes make a kitchen seem cozier and more natural. It combines both a retro vibe and a very modern outlook.

3. Decorative Range Hoods

This is something I’ve been focused on for a long time, so for me it isn’t a new trend. But I love a vent hood that isn’t the usual stainless square box. In the kitchen I designed above, I envisioned a custom hood with a plastered surface. It’s sculptural and stylish!

4. Traditional Details

When things feel out of our control in the world, design naturally shifts back to traditional looks. It’s a normal response to look for nostalgic themes. In the kitchen above, I used a classic column shape to support the island. It balances the more modern seating at the island.

5. Bold Marble

I love marble with a strong color or very visible veining. And there are now so many styles and colors to choose from! I love the fearless black stone I selected above for a London kitchen. It wraps around the sink and the windows with style.

6. Built-In Bars

In larger kitchens, having the bar nearby makes perfect sense. It’s great for dealing with glassware and mixers, but it also can keep traffic out of the way for meal prep. Look for more bars to be included in kitchen designs this year!

What do you think of these ideas? Which ones do you want to try in your kitchen makeover?

Warmly,
