The Power of Blue
Blue is such a popular color - for clothes, for cars, and especially in home decor. And there are very good reasons for that! Blue is everyone’s favorite color. No, really. Blue is consistently listed as the most popular color around the world. Almost every one of my clients has asked for blue in their rooms, if not throughout the home. Here are some of the highlights of this hue, and where I’ve used it in my own projects.

1. Blue in the Bedroom
Psychology Today magazine says the color blue affects people both cognitively and affectively, making them feel more comfortable. That makes it a perfect color for the bedroom where you want to relax and get over the stresses of the day.

2. Blue in the Living Room
Blue is both soothing and peaceful and it also gives the impression of luxury. That’s why blue is widely versatile and perfect for most design styles. Blue feels dynamic, modern, and intellectually stimulating. It projects confidence and social engagement, so in living spaces it’s great for gathering and for enjoying family.

3. Blue in the Kitchen
Certain shades of blue encourage energy and enthusiasm. I love using blue in a kitchen. It encourages my clients to slow down and really enjoy the process of cooking and eating with their families.

4. Blue in the Bathroom
Because blue has calming and cooling effects, it’s a great color for the bathroom. I love to use everything from sky blue to royal in these spaces. It’s welcoming and makes a great impression on guests.
