Spring Design Books Are Blooming

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love books - but I’m especially fond of design books. Every spring and fall I make a list of my must-have new releases. These books inspire and sustain me as I work on my own design projects. Here is my list of the top design titles I’m shopping for this spring!

Jungalow: Decorate Wild
by Justina Blakeney

When I want to kick my maximalism up a notch, I always go to Justina Blakeney’s Instagram account, full of pattern, color, and fun! So I was thrilled to see that she had a new book coming out, and it is just as full of exuberance and bigger-than-life ideas as her blog and posts. Can’t wait to dive into this one. At Home: Evocative and Art-Forward Interiors
By Brian Paquette

On the other end of the spectrum from Jungalow is the sleekly modern and oh-so-Seattle moody style from Brian Paquette. His spare and modern designs are so exquisite, and he is a master at placing art in his rooms. Since I love mixing modern art in my client’s more traditional interiors, I know I’m going to find incredible ideas from his art-forward spaces. Published by Gibbs Smith.

A Year at Clove Brook Farm
By Christpher Spitzmiller

During this year of a pandemic, we all became more fascinated with baking bread and making preserves. But Christopher Spitzmiller - who also designs some of the most gorgeous lamps I’ve ever used in a project - took that idea even further. Organized by season, he talks about keeping bees, raising heritage chickens, and living off of his farm. He also covers entertaining ideas, recipes, decor ideas, and more. What a dream of a book! Published by Rizzoli.
