Get Ready for Entertaining Season
If you thought summer went by fast, well we are now in the “ber” months. September and October will be over in the blink of an eye and then we’ll be right in the middle of the entertaining months of November and December! It’s time to ensure that your house is ready for all the holiday parties to host your friends and family. Here are my best pro tips for designing those entertaining spaces!

1. Raise the Bar
A home bar makes entertaining more festive! Whether you like to shake up the latest mocktails or you enjoy an amazing bottle of wine, a bar gives you a home base for your parties and events. If you have the space, design your bar to include a sink, dishwasher and fridge to store everything you need in one place. But even a bar cart will create a hub for your guests. Just include glassware, shakers, garnishes, and fun cocktail napkins.

2. Go with the Flow
Creating a nice flow in your rooms will guarantee that there are no awkward bottlenecks as your guests move through your home. There should be plenty of seating, but make sure there are open pathways so no one gets stuck trying to get from one room to another. Food and drink should be set up where they aren’t going to cause a block for people. I love to use the kitchen island for this because it keeps things moving.

3. Table It
Be sure that every seat has a table nearby for snacks and drinks. There’s nothing more awkward than trying to balance a plate and glass while trying to eat in someone’s lovely living room! Make your guests comfortable with lots of surfaces near the chairs and sofa.

4. Perfect Powder Room
Remember to set up your powder room to welcome your guests! That can include fresh flowers, amazing soaps, and luxe guest towels. Be sure you also WOW them with a stunning design. Beautiful wallpaper or an amazing paint color can really add a lot of style to your powder bathroom.
You still have time to get things ready for your own entertaining season! So take a spin around your rooms and see what you think. If you need any design help, just give me and my team a call!
