Bathroom Design Trends

In January, the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas highlighted the latest trends for home in 2020. Several trends stood out for bathrooms. In 2020, bathrooms are going to be more tech savvy than ever, but also will offer fab features to make your bathroom experience more like a relaxing spa day.

On the tech end of things, Koehler offered Remix, a shower head with a built-in bluetooth speaker so your shower can be relaxing or invigorating according to your playlist. It sure beats the speaker on your counter, which comes muffled though the shower door. With Remix, the sound of your playlist washes over you, just like a waterfall.

On the spa end of shower design, Moen introduced an aromatherapy shower, with scented pods to mix with your shower according to your mood (just like you do with your coffee pods every morning). The scents are blended by Inly of France, and don’t add oil to your shower or residue to your skin or hair, just clean scent from lavender fields, to a hike in the forest with citrus and pine, or a tropical paradise with lemongrass and neroli. I doubt I’d want to get out of my shower after being enveloped in wonderful, relaxing scents!

I am absolutely in love with this sleek tankless toilet from Kohler. It’s ecofriendly and only fills the bowl on demand when it’s needed, so it saves water and also eliminates the “running toilet” issue.

Another trend in the bath is COLOR, which is back in a big way! I adore this vanity/sink combo from Bocchi. The sweet blue and asymmetrical egg-shaped sink make a fabulous alternative to the ubiquitous vessel sink.

And not only did KBIS bring back color, it also brought back the clawfoot bathtub, in a rainbow of colors. I have coveted a clawfoot tub since I was a girl, so I can’t wait to use one of these in a farmhouse modern or rustic ski vacation home!
