4 Ways to Add Some Cozy to Your Home

Fall is finally in the air, and I couldn’t be happier about it. I’m not much for Pumpkin Spice lattes, but cozy, fall-inspired, seasonal decor? Well, that has my name all over it! So how does one layer in cozy to existing decor? It’s easier than you think. Here are four quick tips:

1. Throws

Layer throws everywhere. On beds, chairs, sofas, and in every room. Except the bathroom, but even then, nothing wrong with a big fluffy bath sheet folded over the edge of a tub! That textured textile adds a great warm and fuzzy to the room.

2. Books

I have a fantasy in which I design a book collector’s home and every room is a library. Nothing is cozier than a good library! But it doesn’t need to be a whole room of books. A stack here and there works, too (see above). Nothing makes me want to curl up with a book and a cup of hot tea more than a crisp, cool fall evening.

3. Pillows

Pillows are the easiest home accessory to seasonally change. It wouldn’t be the smartest idea to switch out a sofa every season, but you can add different pillows to it in the fall! You’d be surprised at how they can change the direction of a room. Again, like with throws, think texture. Wool, velvet, or chunky knits really bring on the cozy. In the photo above, I added velvet pillows to give the leather sofa more warmth and textural interest.

4. Baskets

Baskets are super textural, and instantly add coziness to any space. Use them liberally throughout your home to bring the season inside. Fill them with firewood, or magazines, or fab throws and extra blankets. Anything, really.

So how about you? Are you as excited for fall as I am? Or are you still in endless summer mode? Let me know!

Warmly,

Beth
