5 Luxe Design Ideas for Your Home

The rules for interiors are changing dramatically. You no longer have to have certain rooms or designs just because some trend dictates that it should be that way. I am all on board with this no-trend trend because it frees up my clients to live their best lives in their homes - the way that they want to. I encourage my clients to invest in ideas and items that will make them happy and will give them fantastic functionality, too. Here are 5 design ideas that will take your home to the next luxe level.

1. Appliance Garage

Behind the doors of the custom cabinetry in a kitchen I designed above is an appliance garage. You may not have heard of it, but you will definitely want to consider this idea for your next kitchen renovation! An appliance garage stores small appliances like coffee makers, kettles, blenders, mixers, toasters and more. They are out of sight, but still very functional because the garage includes outlets, pull-out trays and more. It’s a fantastic way to clear your counters and keep things organized!

2. Wet Bar

A bar with a sink - separate from the kitchen - is a great luxe addition. It allows guests to make drinks and even grab a snack without getting in the way of any dinner prep. This bar doesn’t have to always include alcohol. It can also be a terrific soda and juice station that will keep kids and teens from invading the kitchen hundreds of times a day.

3. Beverage Station

This is one of my very favorite ideas - add a beverage station to your principal bedroom suite. You can include a fridge drawer, a coffee maker, a wine fridge, and more. The idea is to give my clients their own little oasis away from family and guests. They can wake up with a cup of coffee together in the morning and relax in the evening with a glass of wine.

4. Second Kitchen

This is one of the best new luxe ideas that breaks all the “rules” of design: a smaller but fully functional second kitchen! If you entertain or have teens or children, this extra space can be an amazing addition. In a downstairs area that has a family room, it becomes a fun space for teens. On game day, you can entertain friends without having to go up and down the stairs over and over. And if your guest rooms are on the same level as the second kitchen, you’ve just created a fabulous guest suite.

5. Home Gym

During and after the pandemic, this is one luxe idea that clients requested over and over. A dedicated home gym can be set up to your specifications and with the equipment you most want to use. It also is a safer space since you and your family would be the only people using the room. You could craft a yoga studio, a mirrored room for barre work, a Pilates space, or a room with weights and treadmills. The idea is to have what you want in your home!
