Top 4 Bathroom Trends for 2019

In my last post, I talked about my direction for my own master bath renovation, so I thought I’d share some bathroom trends I’ve been seeing that I think will be hot-hot-hot in 2019.

1. Colored Tile

We’ve all become used to a classic white bathroom, and I can’t deny the allure is eternal and will always be on my design “playlist.” But bold color choices are looking fresh again, especially when the walls are tiled floor-to-ceiling, wet room style. It’s cheerful, fun, and a unique change of pace. I’m so in love with the dreamy blue-green I selected for a recent bath and shower enclosure. Honesty, i could stare at them all day!

2. Dark Floors

I love a dark floor as an anchor in any room, so I’m happy to see this emerge as a trend in the bath, too. The dark penny rounds certainly add personality to this bath I designed, and the white border makes it feel like an area rug. Super pleased with how this one turned out!

3. Navy Blue

Navy blue, while always a classic, is hot and on trend right now. I’m seeing it (and using it) in every room of the house, but really loving it for the bath. How jaunty is it paired with a ship lap wall? Navy blue *is* the new black, and I like it.

4. The Statement Tub

At some point, the statement bathtub crossed the line from a nice feature if you had the room, to a must-have. I know I’m definitely putting a freestanding tub in my new master bath, and my clients all want them, too. A master bath should have a spa-like vibe, so I have no problem with this trend, and fully endorse creating temples of bathing, where relaxation is elevated to an art form!
