Outdoor Entertaining Must-Haves

It’s here! The time of year where we get to enjoy the backyards, terraces, and patios of our homes. I love dining and relaxing al fresco! Food simply tastes better outside, and nothing beats a good glass of rosé enjoyed at sunset. It’s also much easier to entertain large groups outdoors. The rules get relaxed, and that means your guests are more relaxed, too. Everything is much more casual: “serve yourself, the bar is over there, the meat and veggies will be coming off the grill in a minute.”

What also makes outdoor entertaining more fun these days is the plethora of chic outdoor entertaining options available at every price point. In fact, it’s almost overwhelming how much there is. So here are some of my picks from the latest market trends.

I love outdoor grilling, but honestly, I’m not a fan of the look of most outdoor grills. This can be easily solved with a dedicated outdoor kitchen where the grill is built in, but not everyone has the resources or space to put in an outdoor kitchen. So when I saw this tulip-base stand-alone rotisserie grill at Williams-Sonoma, I thought to myself, “I could look at that every day.”

On the opposite stylistic end from the the retro-future look of the grill, at Williams-Sonoma I also loved these colorful melamine euro-inspired dining pieces. They look good enough to be the real thing, but are light and breakage-friendly!

I love that acrylic outdoor glassware has revolutionized the industry and is also chic enough to be used indoors as well! Goodbye red plastic cups, and welcome to adorable, uncoordinated little hands being able to use the same quality drinking vessels as the rest of us!

Ambiance and proper lighting are just as important outdoors as in. Ten years ago if you had asked me if i would ever use an artificial candle indoors or out, i would have been slightly shocked, and answered “never!” Now, I’m not so sure. The newer outdoor candles don’t look cheap, and the convenience of a timer to turn them on and off, and no wax residue to worry about, are making them more attractive to me!

I hope you are as excited about the onset of al fresco entertaining season as I am. It can be alarmingly brief, so let’s make the most of it!

Warmly,

Beth
