Haunted Hues: Black

In my last post, I gave a shout-out to the season by posting interiors where orange was the main ingredient, so now it’s time for its Halloween complement: black!

Black is a trend that’s been bubbling up in the decor world for a while now, and as much as I’m a fan of airy light and bright room, there is something about moody black that draws me in. One of the first all-black rooms I remember falling in love with was Jenna Lyons’ dramatic bedroom from the older Domino magazine. It took a million hearts and turned them black.

The cabin below perfectly embodies how a black room creates a cocoon around you. I especially love it with the bleached floors for contrast.

If an all-black room seems like to much of a commitment, consider a black lacquered accent wall. This entry looks smashing with black walls, and crisp white accents. The touch of gold and worn zebra are perfect as well.

Designer Steven Shulman was brave enough to even paint his ceiling black. What I love most about this room is the black bookshelves behind the bed ... because they’re wallpaper!

This black butler’s pantry by Steven Gambrel is everything. Who needs light and bright when you can have black and beautiful?

The black trend isn’t just relegated to interiors. Black painted exteriors are white hot right now (pardon the mixed metaphor).

So what’s your opinion about black? Could you go full Goth? I think I could!

Happy Halloween!
