Top 4 Cabinetry Trends for 2019

This is the time of year to start thinking about changes you want to make in 2019 - and that includes your home! If you’re planning a redo of your kitchen in the new year, be sure you think about the workhorses of that room - the cabinets. This is one of the biggest investments, too, so let’s look at a few trends in cabinetry that will change up how kitchens look in 2019!

1. No Upper Cabinets.

That’s right, one of the big trends for 2019 is no upper cabinetry at all! As you can see in the guest kitchen I designed above, this idea can really open up a smaller kitchen, making it look much larger. To avoid the lack of storage, it’s key to maximize all of the space in the lower cabinets, and to use something like the pot racks you see above. It gives a home kitchen the look of a restaurant kitchen.

2. Floating Shelves.

If you just can’t go with no upper cabinetry at all, try this look. Floating shelves still provide a more open and expansive look, as you can see in the casita kitchen I designed above, but gives you some storage. Oh, and color is back in cabinetry, too!

3. Storage Drawers.

While this isn’t a new trend, it’s definitely going to be THE trend in 2019! Storage drawers in lower cabinets allow you to take advantage of every square inch, and still be able to reach your dishes and pots. They’re so much easier for older clients to use, too. No more bending way over to search into the very back of a cabinet!

4. Take It All the Way Up.

Another way to maximize every bit of space in your kitchen is to take the cabinets all the way up to the ceiling. It also avoids that weird dusty shelf that you never know what to do with, and it looks much more cohesive.
