Bathing Beauties

The top two rooms I’m asked to renovate most often are kitchens and bathrooms. That makes sense because those are the two workhorses of a home, the spaces that really need to function for the people who live there. Too often we think about only the functionality of these spaces and not how to make them beautiful. But I love to create stunning bathrooms that are as gorgeous as they are utilitarian. Here are 5 things that help create those beautiful spaces:

Gorgeous Tile

Finding the perfect mix of tile for the walls and floors of a bathroom is an art. They should definitely complement each other, like the neutral tiles I selected for my Sanders project above. The smaller tiles on the floor of the shower offer more texture (and less slipping!), but they perfectly coordinate with the subtle gold and sand tones in the marble on the walls.

Eye-Catching Color

A great color story is definitely a way to add beauty to the bathroom. Wallpaper is an easy and gorgeous option for color, as you can see in the Sanders powder bath above. I used a lovely paper from Lindsay Cowles and then coordinated the color on the vanity to perfectly match the blues.

Beautiful Art

Art in the bathroom? YES! I believe art should be included in every room in the home. If you’re worried about steam or water damage, you can have your local art shop frame the piece so that it resists moisture. Or select something that’s already easy to clean and water resistant. But definitely include beautiful pieces of art in this space.

Sitting Pretty

If you have space in your bathroom, consider including a vanity. It offers a great place to sit and apply makeup or to complete your toilette. It also offers that feeling of your favorite local spa! And don’t forget fresh flowers to keep your spaces looking lovely.

Luxe Looks

Take your bathroom’s decor to the next level with unique ideas and decor. In the bathroom above, I had gingko leaves handpainted onto the walls with gold paint. That one idea took this bath from good to OMG, and it is consistently my most-liked bathroom photo on social media. So what can you do in your home to create that jaw-dropping moment?

What do you think of these gorgeous ideas? Bathrooms should definitely be as lovely as any other room in your home. Let me know what you think in the comments section below.

Warmly,
