4 Tips for Surviving the Holiday Rush
It’s here! The most wonderful - and often most stressful - time of the year! As we’re running around trying to get all the gifts on our lists, set up our holiday decor, oh and also WORK, we can sometimes forget to enjoy what’s special about the season. So here are my 4 top tips for surviving the rush:
1. Keep the bar well stocked. No, not just for you (although you may need it), but for any drop-in guests that may happen by. I also like to buy a case of my favorite wine at the beginning of the season. That way we have plenty on hand for events, and I can use a bottle or two as a last-minute hostess gift for parties we attend!
2. Be like Martha. Martha Stewart recommends keeping dips and cookies in the freezer for unexpected guests, or for gifts. I love this idea and started making a few extra items around Thanksgiving. It saves so much stress later on!
3. Keep the decor simple. My favorite holiday decor is simple white lights and candles - you really don’t need much more if you’re rushed. Fresh fruits and greenery also make for gorgeous table decor. It isn’t about making everything elaborate and “perfect,” it’s about creating fabulous memories with family and friends!
4. Make it fun! Rather than stressing over when and how you’re going to get the tree done, make an event out of it! Invite people over to help decorate the tree - add a little Christmas music and some hot cider, and you have a party!
This season is really about being with those you love, so enjoy every minute! Let me know how you save time and stress during the holidays in the comments section!
