Let's Hear It for the Boys
In the same way that interior design and women’s fashion have inspired each other, menswear has a long history of adding a masculine edge to home decor. In fashion, suits have become slimmer and layering has become not only a necessity in the winter, but very fashionable. That sleek, but tailored, look is very big in home design right now, too.
Menswear also inspires color palettes and fabric patterns. With tailored fabrics, layered grays with black and brown, and just a hint of color you get a space or that is both fashionable and functional.
I’ve also found inspiration in the textures used in menswear. A polished tweed or herringbone can make for a refined, edited interior with distinctive masculine character.
Sophisticated menswear inspires me to create livable spaces that showcase neutrals, layered looks and texture – perfect for a bachelor’s pad, or a cozy home for two.
